IMPORTANT: Troubleshooting of heaters should only be carried out by qualified Gas Safe engineers or Electricians.
There are two types of lockouts on these heaters. An overheat lockout and a burner lockout.
Overheat Reset
On the front of the heater near the bottom, there is an overheat reset button and an overheat lockout light. Hold down the reset button for three seconds and release; the overheat lockout light should turn off.
If the heater doesn’t reset, let it cool down for a few minutes and then try again. To speed up this cooling process, manually turn on the main distribution fan. There are three ways to do this:
- NRG controller
- Press “RUN FAN” on the top right, then press “ENTER”
- To turn off the fan, press “RUN FAN” on the top right, then press “ENTER”
- Enercal controller
- Push the switch on the bottom right of the controller into fan mode.
- Fan limit stat found on the right-hand side of the heater at the top
- Push in the white button to turn on the main fan
- Pull out the switch to put the fan into automatic mode
ELG Elco Burner Reset
For an ELG heater with a grey Elco Burner box at the front, if the burner has a lockout, the red light above the lock button will be on. To reset it, press the lock button for 1 second. The red light should turn off.
If the controller (thermostat) is calling for heat, the light will turn yellow as the burner attempts to turn on (produce a flame) and then turn green after it has maintained a flame.
Make sure the valves on the gas supply are open (open: handle parallel to gas pipe; closed: perpendicular to gas pipe).
If the red light doesn’t turn off, contact our Technical Support Team or a Gas Safe registered engineer for more help.
ELO Ecoflam Burner Reset
For an ELO heater, with a red Ecoflam Burner box on the front, if the burner has locked out, the red light on the burner will be on. To reset it, press the light, which is also a button, for 1 second. The red light should turn off.
If the controller (thermostat) is calling for heat, the light will turn yellow as the burner attempts to turn on (produce a flame) and then turn green after it maintains a flame.
Make sure the oil supply is topped up.
If the red light doesn’t turn off, contact our Technical Support Team or a Gas Safe registered engineer for more help.
